Course: Housing Interior Studio (3 credits)
University: Texas State University
Level: Undergraduate (Junior)
Pedagogy: Remodeling A Shipping Container using sustainable materials, modular systems, and ecological design principles.
The Sustainable Container Home Project:
This project explores the premise of materials reuse and recycle. Recycled shipping container represent the core house that offers an opportunity to grow by duplicating, adding-on, or stacking-above other container(s) of the same or different size. In this project, you will develop various skills in design and human factors research, programming for efficient activities planning and spatial organization, modular system for interior space design, affordability principles through materials selection and reuse, and green materials impact on human health and wellbeing. Shipping containers are a form of modular construction system that is eco-friendlier and sustainable than traditional construction. The system offers less material waste and more flexibility and adaptability.
